SUN STAND STILL!
Josh
10:12-13
12 Then
spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites
before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun,
stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
13 And the
sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves
upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun
stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole
day.
A Wrinkle in Time is the story of Meg Murry, a high-school-aged girl who is transported on an adventure through time and space with her younger brother Charles Wallace and her
friend Calvin O'Keefe to rescue her father, a gifted scientist, from the evil forces that hold him
prisoner on another planet.
How many times have we wished for more hours in our day? This
morning I find myself looking at the calendar and the TO DO list and one threatens
to overflow the other. Whether your list of responsibilities is personal,
circumstantial, or business it can be overwhelming.
Time often determines winners and
losers. The winner is not always the
“best” team but the one with the most points at the buzzer. The buzzer says
that effort and opportunity are both done. Why do youth sleep in for
hours while the aged rise earlier than the sun? We are all playing toward the
buzzer.
Dear Lord, expand time to allow for
my responsibilities. Enlarge strength and productivity to accomplish the
important things. Grant wisdom to know what is and is not important. AMEN
