CHANGING SEASONS!
Mark 4:26-29
26 And
he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the
ground;
27 And
should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up,
he knoweth not how.
28 For
the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after
that the full corn in the ear.
29 But
when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because
the harvest is come.
This morning I’m dreaming of Spring! Never mind that, here in Texas, we
are under a winter storm watch. Yesterday’s temperature reached nearly 80
degrees but we are supposed to have snow – yes snow – on Wednesday! Ah, Springtime in Texas! I can hardly wait to
shed the cumbersome winter clothing for something more light and airy. Soon the
brown ground will begin to change to green and the flowers will bloom. Already
the Robins have joined the Cardinals to forage for seeds and worms.
I see signs of a spiritual Spring in some of our church people as
well. There is an increased warmth in their smile because God has answered many
prayers among our people. Their spirit is brighter with more signs of life.
Spring is wonderful.
Jesus is the speaker in our text above and He is talking
about His very own growing season. Now is the time to plant and water and
cultivate for a rich harvest which is coming soon. In fact, the harvest is
probably coming sooner than we think for He is about to gather
that which is His own into His garner.
1 Thess 3:12-13
12 And
the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward
all men, even as we do toward you:
13 To
the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even
our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
Dear Lord,
with the freshness of Spring in the air, let me be fruitful until the day of
your harvest. AMEN
