SOME THINGS MAY NOT FIT!
Mark 10:25-27
25 It
is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to
enter into the kingdom of God.
26 And
they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be
saved?
27 And
Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for
with God all things are possible.
In old Jerusalem, caravans arriving after dark would
find the gates closed for security. In order for camels to enter through the
“eye,” or smaller door in the larger gate, the camel had to unload his stuff
and crawl through on his knees.
Jesus did not say it was impossible for the rich to
enter in. He said it was not easy for the rich to do so. The rich became rich
by focusing on stuff; by reaching for it and working for it. It would be hard
to off-load the stuff which they had spent a lifetime accumulating. Moreover,
they would have to come to Jesus on their knees! Our burdens, whether they be
the stuff of riches or the baggage of the past, must be removed because some
things may not fit through the narrow opening.
Matt 7:13-14
13 Enter
ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because
strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few
there be that find it.
Dear Jesus,
you said that “with God all things are possible.” Let those who are burdened
crouch low that they may enter in. AMEN
