RESPONSE ABILITY!
Acts
4:32-33
32 And the
multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said
any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they
had all things common.
33 And with
great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus:
and great grace was upon them all.
Difficult
times do not change us
– they reveal who we really are! The early church, in her infancy, established
a model for the Christian community that we now call “church.”
The
word “common” is
the Greek word koinos which means “shared by all.” When we speak
of koinonia we acknowledge that it has its foundation in
commonality. It takes a common enemy, sometimes, to awaken us to our
shared relationship in Christ. We are now in the midst of one of the greatest
challenges to the church since … well, since we can’t remember when! None have
escaped and some have been hit very hard.
My
heart rejoices
at the response ability of my church! One of our families escaped
from their burning home with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. Our
wonderful church family responded with the attitude that “nothing I have is
mine alone.” Within hours prayer, lodging, and even new cell phones were
provided. THIS is kononia! This is the model of the church
family.
2
Cor 9:8
8 And God is
able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all
sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
Dear
Lord, bless your church. Make us truly response ABLE. AMEN
