THIS GUY
Matt 13:54-56
54 And when he
was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that
they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and
these mighty works?
55 Is not this
the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his
brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56 And his
sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these
things?
Mark 15:39
39 And when the
centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up
the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of
God.
Matt 27:63-64
63 Saying, Sir,
we remember that that deceiver said, while he
was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
64 Command
therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his
disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is
risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
The enemies of
Jesus thought of no worse slander than to point out the singularity of
Jesus. At the age of twelve, He debated theology with them, later He challenged
natural and physical laws by turning water into wine. He drew attention to
himself by focusing on others which was completely opposite of the program of
the religious leaders. Jesus claimed that the power came from God while the
priests insinuated that the power resided in them. Jesus highlighted the comfortable
lies of culture by presenting the uncomfortable truth.
But it was not
those things He did in life that lit the faggots of persecution and martyrdom; it was His
resurrection! With authority, he refused to remain dead which, of course, validated
every other deed of Jesus and we proclaim along with the soldier who oversaw
his crucifixion, THIS GUY is the Son of God.
Heb 13:20-21
20 Now the God of
peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of
the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect
in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in
his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
