COURAGE FROM DIVINE PURPOSE

Est 4:13-14

13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.

14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Cowardice is not an effective deterrent to despotic bullying! Oh, how we need an Esther and a Mordecai to lead us out of the morass through we now trudge. We have a purposeful God who oversees everything. We trust that He has a plan and a person of purpose awaiting a life challenge. Perhaps it is you.

Never confuse a beauty contest with a calling! If you are familiar with the manner in which Esther came to her powerful place, you might be tempted to rush out and buy her particular brand of mascara but if you pay attention, you will surely see God at work.

Do not abandon prayer! (See Esther 4:16) Though prayer is not specifically mentioned in this verse fasting is and certainly prayer would be her companion. Prayer acknowledges God as Supreme and highlights our weakness. It appeals to His mercy and goodness which are essential portions of His character. Prayer is effective.

Be completely committed to the outcome – whatever it may be.

“…so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.” (Est 4:16) Evaluate the situation. See yourself as the missing piece of the puzzle and then, settle into your place.

Once you are committed, watch God work! (See Esther 6:1) The king could not sleep, and he called for the Chronicles to be read. The result was that the enemy was hanged on his own gallows and Mordecai was elevated to prominence. Unbelievers would call this a unique coincidence, but we suspect God was working a miracle of deliverance.

Phil 1:6

6 And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

Lord, Thy people are in need of a chosen servant. Let us rise up and volunteer. AMEN
