AUDACITY!

 

Prov 30:12-13

12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

 

          We currently live in a time of frustrating AUDACITY which is defined as “rude or disrespectful behavior; impudence.” Our verse in Proverbs indicates that this cocky and brassy behavior is a result of home-made righteousness. Yet these audacious people “are not washed from their filthiness.”

 

          Too many are willing to worship a God they do not obey. As long as God or His representatives do not challenge their sins, everything is fine but as soon as their favorite sins are confronted by the clear teaching of scripture, they claim a superior or at least an alternate truth. The scriptures, they say, are not valid, outdated, misunderstood, or misapplied. They are guided by their desires and they follow only those rules that allow them to fulfill their desires.

 

          Truth is not arbitrary but absolute and, one day soon, the Author of truth will apply the standard and measure of truth to all other challengers. Those following an alternate, home-made, truth will be having a very bad day indeed.

 

Ps 74:22

22 Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.

 

Dear Lord, break the teeth of the proud and arrogant. Establish your truth forever. AMEN
