SATAN’S AIM IS TO DECEIVE!
Gen
3:3-6
3 But of the
fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall
not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the
serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God
doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and
ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when
the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the
eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof,
and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Satan
did not say
that the fruit was not good, or beautiful, or even beneficial. He said there
would be NO PRICE TO PAY. Beware of anything that is supposed to be “free.”
The
restrictions
which God places on our lives are meant for our good. The unrestricted
relationship may seem like a marriage and may even contain all the benefits,
but it is not according to God’s design. It may be called an extended
“engagement,” but when the wedding takes place it is tasteless, useless, and
without reward.
Deceitful
business deals
may reward the deceiver with goods but there is a debt that will be due one
day. Zacchaeus had made himself rich by cheating others but when he encountered
Jesus, he knew he would have to repay. That day of accounting awaits us all.
Mic
6:8
8 He hath
shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but
to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Dear
Lord, keep me honest and warn me when others seek to deceive. AMEN
