Storms in
the night disturbed my sleep. I thought I would offer an original poem today
instead.
A
WELCOME SOLACE!
Why, when
winter’s bite bids us hide
‘neath
blankets near the fire’s side,
Our hearts
are calm and our souls content?
It is a
refuge to be in
Secured from
chill and winter’s wind.
But summer
also locks us in
With
conditioned air on moistened skin.
Its
whooshing, incessant wind
Is more a
guard than tender friend.
So wait we
here for temperate air
And mop our
brow, and smooth our hair
While we
peel ourselves from our easy chair.
So come
winter’s cool embrace
Bring
welcome solace to this place.
