HE HEALS THE BROKENHEARTED!
Luke
4:18
18 The
Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel
to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to
preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to
set at liberty them that are bruised.
Have
you ever watched a wound heal? Perhaps it was your own injury or a surgical incision that
captivated your attention for several days or even months. With what magic are
these wounds made whole? The body is a wonderous machine!
Do
you sense a healing of your spirit? The anger and pain of yesterday is less today, and you
wonder how that happened. Perhaps you swore you would never forgive or forget
yet today much of that has gone. The air is fresher, and the tears have dried.
There is a lingering emotional scar, but it only marks the place where the hurt
used to be. It is a badge of victory and courage.
The
fact is that anger and hurt are unsustainable. The intensity of the fury that
boiled inside cannot be maintained any more than a pot can continue to boil
water. It will boil away to a vapor and we wonder where all that hot liquid has
gone. He heals the brokenhearted! Memories remain as a badge of victory and
courage. We made it. We’ve won.
Ps
34:18-19
18 The Lord
is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a
contrite spirit.
19 Many are
the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
Great
Physician, we can’t perceive just how you heal but we thank you for it. AMEN
