I DON’T UNDERSTAND IT!

I DON’T UNDERSTAND IT!

Ps 8:3-4
3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Ps 68:19
19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

          Right now our church, especially our children’s ministry, is being blessed with wonderful growth. I don’t understand it! The reason I don’t understand it is because we haven’t done the “things” that seem to be necessary to produce this growth. We haven’t offered unusual incentives or done special promotions to attract larger crowds. Our transportation ministry is stretched to our current limit. Last night, during prayer time, an appeal was made to individuals to provide their own vehicles as a “taxi squad” to handle the overload. I just don’t understand it.

          Sometimes, very often in fact, God blesses us for His own reasons and not because we have been unusually busy or extraordinarily good. These blessings are not a reward but a gift. We call it grace and it’s amazing.

          The word “mindful” in Psalm 8:4 is the word zakar and means “to remember; to be deliberately brought to mind.” The word “visitest” is the word paqad and means “to visit with friendly intent; to oversee.” The Psalmist couldn’t understand it either. He couldn’t think of any reason why God would pay such close and benevolent attention to insignificant man. I guess it’s just grace! Isn’t that amazing?

          The word “loadeth” in Psalm 68:19 is the word ‘amac and means “to impose a burden.” Now that is a very graphic description of the way God blesses! Sometimes His blessings will actually tax our strength. Sometimes His blessings force us to make changes that we would never have made otherwise. Sometimes they are cleverly disguised as problems. Blessings force us to get busy!

          As you sip your coffee, perhaps you need to prepare to be inundated with God’s blessings. They will come unexpectedly and they may tax your energy and force you to act. You may shake your head but there will be a smile on your face. Enjoy!

Dear Lord, I am so blessed it’s embarrassing! I do not deserve any of it and sometimes you force me to move and act in ways I would never have dreamed. Thank you for today’s daily load. AMEN
