ACCESS!

ACCESS!

Rom 5:1-2
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Eph 2:18-19
18 For through him [Jesus] we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Eph 3:11-12
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

          The word “access” is found in the King James translation only THREE times! In each case it is translated from the Greek word prosagoge which literally means admission. Merriam-Webster says that the word “access” means “the capacity to enter or approach.” It means you can’t enter without a ticket!

          Yesterday our church changed the locks on the front and rear doors not because we wanted to exclude anyone but so that those who already had keys could have access. The lock on the doors were old and the keys worn by much use. Some people who needed to enter could not gain access even though they had keys! I expect there will be some confusion as we trade old keys for new ones but eventually everyone who needs access will gain access.

In each of the three occurrences, the word “access” indicates that Jesus Christ is our key! But even a key doesn’t guarantee access unless it is used!

Heb 10:19-22
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Dear Lord, let me not stand on the outside of your blessings while holding a new key in my hand. AMEN
