CHURCH:
A PLACE OF SAFETY!
Ps
27:5
5
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:
in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall
set me up upon a rock.
Prov
29:25
25
… whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
Tornadoes
ripped through Washington, Illinois a few days ago destroying as many as
500 homes. Daniel Bennett was officiating Sunday services where between 600 and
700 people were gathered. When the tornado sirens began to scream, Bennett
ushered the congregation into a safe place until the threat had passed. On
Monday there was speculation that the reason for the relatively low death toll
was that many families were in church.
“I
don’t think we had one church damaged,” said Gary Manier, mayor of Washington,
Ill., a community of 16,000 about 140 miles southwest of Chicago.

The
above story either describes another strange tornado coincidence or the
protection of God.
Like most of God’s actions we are given the choice of either belief or
unbelief. One thing, however, can’t be denied by the people of Washington,
Illinois and that is that church is a really safe place to be.
Amazing
Grace
Through
many dangers, toils and snares
I
have already come.
‘Tis
grace that brought me safe thus far
And
grace will lead me home.
Dear
Lord, hide us in the safety of your pavilion. Protect us in your tabernacle
today. AMEN
