ANXIETY AND IGNORANCE
Matt 24:6
6 And ye shall
hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these
things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. KJV
Matt 24:35-37
35 Heaven and
earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that
day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the
days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. KJV
2 Peter 3:3-5
3 Knowing this
first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own
lusts,
4 And saying,
Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all
things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of …
Our world is filled
with anxiety. News travels fast and that which is not news travels even faster. The
result is that the least significant trouble is emblazoned across our view with
an urgency it has not earned. We have been conditioned to expect calamity. But
this is not to say things are not bad and getting worse, they are.
Likened to the days
of Noah, our days threaten to cause the Creator to sigh that He had ever made
man. We mock and ignore every warning until the day of reckoning overtakes and
overflows us.
God’s patience
with us has given us cause to doubt that day of reckoning. That is the
ignorance that consorts with anxiety. When our worry becomes too much
to bear, ignorance reassures us
that everything is alright. But He is coming. Then two shall
be ploughing in the field and one shall be taken and the other left.
Matt 6:19-21
19 Lay not up for
yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where
thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for
yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and
where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Blessed art Thou, O God, King of the Universe, who will come again and
receive us unto yourself that we may be where you are. AMEN
