SOME PEOPLE DID SOME THINGS!

 

Isa 1:3-4

3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

 

           Minnesota Representative, Ilhan Omar told the "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan that she "could not understand the weight of the pain that the victims of the families of 9/11 must feel" but emphasized that in the aftermath of 9/11 "many Americans found themselves now having their civil rights stripped from them."

 

           The Act was that of one deranged and void of humanity. It was spawned in the hottest hell. Among the thousands trying to escape the crumbling Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001, were small kids from the Children's Discovery Day Care Center at 5 World Trade Center, a small building across from the iconic skyscrapers.

 

           The ideology is unfathomably violent and hateful. Among Indonesia’s most influential Islamic leaders is Yahya Cholil Staquf. He said in an interview, “Western politicians should stop pretending that extremism and terrorism have nothing to do with Islam. There is a clear relationship between fundamentalism, terrorism, and the basic assumptions of Islamic orthodoxy. So long as we lack consensus regarding this matter, we cannot gain victory over fundamentalist violence within Islam.”

 

           The Christian response to effrontery and attack is to turn the other cheek, to offer forgiveness, and to invite a dialogue aimed at understanding. This may work well within the confines of the Christian faith, but it fails miserably with those who do not share our common belief. No, David found two armies shouting insults at one another, but he knew that was not a workable plan. The only thing to do was to place a stone between Goliath’s eyes and cut his head off.

 

           What’s next? Well, one well known news personality says that we can expect open civil war by January of this coming year. We shudder in disbelief but there is a small part in us that wonder if it might be so. If that should happen what should we do? I will offer a bit of advice given by an instructor in a motorcycle riders safety class. She said, “if a small animal runs in front of you DO NOT try to avoid it but hang on and hit it squarely and roll over it.” If you swerve you will crash, and the animal runs away.

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

 

Dear Lord, let us forgive wherever and whenever we can but in those times when we are called upon to fight, let us be ferocious. AMEN
