PERFORMANCE!
2 Cor 8:10-11
10
And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun
before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
11
Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will,
so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
The
word “perform”
can be found 42 times in 41 Bible verses but only twice in the New Testament is
the Greek word epiteleo used. It means “to fulfill further; to execute; to
terminate.” As the Nike ad says “Just Do It.”
How
often
we become so involved in planning that little else is done! We bounce endlessly
at the end of the spring board but never take the plunge.
The
Corinthians
had collected and gathered donations for the persecuted saints in Jerusalem for
a year. Now Paul is sending a representative to receive the funds for
distribution. There should be no more delays. He wanted them to execute and
terminate this project. It was time to just do it.
This
is the kind of action
Jesus promised regarding our salvation and completion. He promised to “fulfill
further and to finish” it. He has done it, is now doing it, and will keep doing
it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Phil 1:6
6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you
will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Dear
Lord, I am confident that you will complete your projects regarding me. Help me
today get up and get moving with my own. AMEN
