FOCUS!
1 Peter 1:13
13
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end
for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Some
mornings
I’m more foggy-headed than others. This is one of those. One cup of coffee is
gone and I need another. I need to focus!
The
allusion here
is to the manner in which the Orientals were accustomed to dress. They wear
loose, flowing robes, so that, when they wish to run, or to fight, or to apply
themselves to any business, they are obliged to bind their garments close
around them. (from Barnes' Notes.) They would tuck their “skirt” tails into
their belts converting the skirts into trousers.
Peter
had just told his readers that they were in possession of information and
blessings that even the angels were studying He goes on to tell them that they
should focus their minds on this and apply themselves to holiness.
1 Peter 2:1-2
2
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies,
and all evil speakings,
2
As newborn babes, desire [intensely
crave] the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Dear
Lord, help me to focus on you today that I might be holy and well pleasing in
your sight. AMEN
