PRAYER
INVOLVES WORSHIP!
Isa
6:1-3
6
In
the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high
and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2
Above
it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face,
and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3
And
one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts:
the whole earth is full of his glory.
Worship
recognizes God’s supreme worth, His enormous power, and His Divine
Glory! Worship also recognizes our smallness, weakness, and unworthiness. The
English word worship comes from the Old English word worthship, a
word which denotes the worthiness of the one receiving the special honor or
devotion.
Every great now and then God lifts the
curtain between heaven and earth to let us see what goes on where He lives.
Yesterday I said that prayer requires faith. Today I offer that prayer involves
worship.
Your prayer life will reflect your
opinion of God.
Some see Him as a cosmic Santa Claus eagerly waiting to distribute gifts. Those
people will pray for material things. Others see him as harsh and intolerant.
Those people will pray for mercy and try to appease God with good deeds. God is
a Spirit. He has intellect and personality. With Him we are invited to have a
personal relationship. Our communication with Him is as multi-faceted as He.
Heb
4:15-16
15
For
we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16
Let
us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need.
Holy
God, I acknowledge your worthiness and bow in humiliation because of my
unworthiness. Search me and know my heart. See if there be any wicked way in me
and uphold me with the right hand of your righteousness. AMEN
