PRAYER
INVOLVES ADORATION!
Matt
22:37-38
37
Jesus
said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with
all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38
This
is the first and great commandment.
The
Westminster Shorter Catechism asks: “What is the chief end of man?”
The answer is: “to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.” As we progress in
prayer we should soon move from petition and intercession to adoration.
Adoration, according to
the Oxford Dictionary is “deep love and respect; worship; veneration.” Do we
love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, and mind or are we still treating
God like a candy machine? Is our experience built upon deep love and respect?
People sometimes find it difficult to say to
others and to God, "I love you." But when love for God fills our
lives, we will express our love in prayer to the one who is ultimately
responsible for all that we are.
While
in prayer,
let your mind think on all the things God has already done for you. It won’t be
long before you will feel your love for God growing inside. Our love for God is
a response to His love for us.
1
John 4:19
19
We
love him, because he first loved us.
Dear
Lord, I love you, but that love did not originate with me. It is only a
reflection of your great love for me. Thank you Lord. AMEN
