WHEN THE WICKED RULE!

WHEN THE WICKED RULE!

Prov 29:2
2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Eccl 10:5
5 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler:

          When Solomon was about to assume the kingdom from his father, David, he was given the option of asking God for anything his heart desired. His request was for wisdom.

1 Kings 3:7-10
7 And now, O Lord  my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

          If there is anyone who needs wisdom, it is the ruler of a nation! Lyndon B. Johnson said: “The President’s hardest task is not to do what is right but to know what is right.” This is a wonderful statement that should have come from the lips of a better president.

          What can the righteous do when they are being led by a wicked ruler? I find myself asking this question almost daily. The very foundation of our nation seems to be crumbling under the weight of pride, foolishness, and wickedness.

          It seems ridiculous to imagine that a new revolution might be needed to restore this nation to its original purpose and principles but that might be needed unless God and reason intervenes. We have a two-party system but it now seems that both parties are against the people. The wicked do bear rule and the people do mourn.

          Why does prayer seem like such a weak instrument to employ against this situation? Prayer connects us with God who certainly knows our condition and our need. If we need correction He can provide it. If we need relief He can provide that as well.

1 Tim 2:1-2
2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Oh, God of battles, come quickly to our rescue and rip the rule from our oppressors. Raise up a deliverer and a captain that will lead in righteousness and integrity. Grant to us a little reviving in these last evil days. AMEN
