CASTING
BREAD!
Eccl
11:1-2
11
Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.
2
Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil
shall be upon the earth.
What
does it mean to cast bread? Mr. Barnes, in his notes, says that “The verse
means: "Show hospitality, even though the corresponding return of
hospitality to you may seem improbable; nevertheless, be hospitable in
faith." Jesus healed ten lepers but only one returned to give thanks.
It does seem that showing kindness and
doing good go unrewarded! For those of us whose calling it is to give
direction, it is a daunting task to suggest people walk in an unwelcomed way.
Man goes astray from the womb. They go astray as soon as they are born (Psalm
58:2). What a wonderful reward it is when we see our labor bear fruit.
Ps
27:13-14
13
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in
the land of the living.
14
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait, I say, on the Lord.
Dear
Lord of Harvest, thank you for the tender shoots that spring up with hope.
Thank you for the encouragement of lives changed by the power of the Gospel.
AMEN
