SANCTIFIED COMMON SENSE

Ps 32:8-9

8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

1 Cor 2:6

6 Yet when we are among the full-grown (spiritually mature Christians who are ripe in understanding), we do impart a [higher] wisdom (the knowledge of the divine plan previously hidden); but it is indeed not a wisdom of this present age or of this world nor of the leaders and rulers of this age, who are being brought to nothing and are doomed to pass away.

AMPLIFIED NEW TESTAMENT

           So many Christians seem to struggle with knowing the will of God and they are frozen in place by that struggle. “Sanctified common sense” is the ability to discern a proper path and the discipline to follow it. Part of our struggle comes from a resistance to doing those things that are hard or uncomfortable. Sometimes we resist God’s direction because it seems to contradict God’s previous calling. Would God lead us in one direction and then change course? We become confused and frozen on a course He has blocked. We will stay there until we discern His course change and yield to it.

           When God came into our heart He also came into our head. Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct thee and teach thee.” It seems reasonable that we should not remain in a kindergarten stage of learning. Lessons learned should not need to be learned over and over. We award certificates of achievement to those people who progress to the next level.

Eph 5:15-17

15 Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),  16 Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.  17 Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.
