TO BE FORGOTTEN!
Gen
40:13-14 & 23
13 Yet
within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy
place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former
manner when thou wast his butler.
14 But think
on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me,
and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
23 Yet did
not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.
Poor
Joseph!
Sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, falsely accused by his master’s
wife, and now simply forgotten by his prison mate. He was stuck! Yet the Bible
does not record any anger or bitterness. That is truly amazing.
I
told a student recently
that the root cause of her poor self image was pride. It was a sharp
blow, but it stopped her whining. It seems she just could not please her boss
no matter what she did. I reminded her that “all had sinned and come short of
the gory of God” (Romans 3:23). Moreover, “the wages of sin is death.” (Romans
6:23). So, if we truly get what we deserve we get condemnation
and hell. Anything more than that is grace.
It
is hard
to be passed over, forgotten, and disrespected but God is faithful to His
children and will not leave them in the dungeon. Joseph was finally remembered
and released. He was elevated to a position of leadership and was instrumental
in saving the very brothers who sold him.
Heb
10:36-37
36 For ye
have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might
receive the promise.
37 For yet a
little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
Lord,
let my applause come from you! AMEN
