DREAMS AND VISIONS!

Joel 2:28

28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

Acts 2:17

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

           Joel announced that there would be a change in the way God revealed himself to man. Before the days of Messiah, individual prophets would perceive God’s will and plan by dreams and visions. Joseph dreamed a dream and told his brothers – and they hated him the more (Genesis 37:5). These bits of future were often cloudy even to the dreamer but they set things in motion for fulfillment. In Joseph’s case the dreams actually caused certain things to happen.

           Peter, in Acts, announced that things had changed with the coming of Messiah, His death, resurrection, and sending of the Holy Spirit. Now every believer had become a prophet and priest. In Joel, the word prophesy is the word naba'  and it means “to speak (or sing) by inspiration (in prediction or simple discourse). In other words, the time would come when all of God’s children would, from time to time, tell forth God’s truth. That time is here.

           Jesus put it very simply when He said: “ I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: (John 16:12-3).

Ps 32:8

8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Oh God who sees the end from the beginning, see for me today. Guide me with your eyes for mine do not see clearly enough to find the right way. AMEN
