AS
A BRIDE ADORNED!
Rev 21:2
2
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of
heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Isn’t
it interesting
to learn that the Greek word from which we get the word adorned is kosmeo?
It means “to put in proper order or to decorate.” If we sound it out it is very
similar to our English word cosmetics and what bride is not familiar with lip
gloss and makeup?
The
near approach of the groom should cause the church to adorn herself for that
wonderful day she will meet Him and be joined to Him. The anticipation produces
both excitement and anxiety. The bride wants to be perfect in every way but she
is aware of blemishes that she hopes the groom will miss or overlook so she
adorns herself. It is a very big deal.
What
the bride cannot fully know is the unquenchable love the bridegroom has for
her! That love has blinded Him to faults. In His eyes she has already been made
perfect. (Revelation 7:14) Soon the church will hear “behold the bridegroom
cometh! Go ye out to meet him!” (Matthew 25:6)
Dear
Lord, let me eliminate anything that would make me ugly in your eyes and let
your blood wash everything clean. AMEN
