WHAT’S
ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
Ps 90:10-12
10
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength
they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is
soon cut off, and we fly away.
11
Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy
wrath.
12
So teach us to number our days, that
we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Most
of us have heard
the term “Bucket List.” It refers to those things we would like to see, do, and
experience before we kick the bucket! We don’t dwell on it much, but the Bible
estimates our life span to be about 70 years or maybe 80. Each additional year
brings with it “labor and sorrow.” This makes a “bucket list” a reasonable
tool.
The
word “number” in verse 12 is the Hebrew maw-naw and it means “to weigh out;
to alot, or to enumerate.” The idea of a TO DO LIST is implied. The question of
what or how much can be done within the time allotted is asked. The phrase
“Rome wasn’t built in a day” gives way to “we’d better hurry.”
Ps 71:18
18
Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, forsake me not; until
I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every
one that is to come.
