BE
FAITHFUL IN SMALL THINGS!
Eph
4:16
16
From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which
every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of
every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Not many are assigned the truly big
responsibilities
in the church but every little thing is very important. The keeping of the
nursery so that mothers may worship, the sweeping of the floors and cleaning
away the weekly, and sometimes daily, use are very important. The single voice
in the choir blending with other single voices makes music to inspire others
and to honor God. Be faithful in small things.
One
preacher’s story illustrates this beautifully.
SMALL
THINGS
I
was asked to conduct the funeral for a man who had helped develop the famous
Boeing 747 aircraft. After the service, I spoke with the widow and commented on
how remarkable it was that her late husband had helped build that marvelous
machine. She said, "The truth is, he worked on one little switchbox
smaller than a loaf of bread. That's all he worked on for 15 years. But when
that 747 lifted off the ground for the first time, it was the happiest day of
his life."
He
worked on one small switchbox for more than a decade. Yet the huge plane
couldn't have lifted off without this man's contribution. Often we see only our
seemingly small efforts and feel we aren't very important. But when the great
Kingdom of God "lifts off," we'll be thrilled to find out that all of
our efforts were essential.
Dear
Lord, remove the pride in me that considers my small task unimportant. Let me
do the small and perhaps hidden things faithfully. I dedicate today with all
its mundane things to you Lord. AMEN
