THAT WHICH IS OF GREAT VALUE!

THAT WHICH IS OF GREAT VALUE!

Luke 16:13-15
13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

           What is highly prized by you? Is it that new home or new car or new techno-gadget? The old hymn is right when it says “the things of earth will dim and lose their value.” When that time comes will you stand with a hand full of ashes; remnants of wood, hay and stubble, or will your accumulated wealth be that of gold, silver and precious stones? It all depends upon your system of accounting.

           Perhaps it is time to take inventory of those highly esteemed things in our life. I can’t do this for you. You and I must do it for ourselves. I live in a nice house but my house is not my home. There is no plaque on the wall reading: “House Sweet House.” Who can rightly place a value on his home? Wife, children and grandchildren make up a home. I challenge you today to do some mental accounting and determine those things that are most highly valued. It may shock you to discover that you are using the wrong accounting system.

Luke 16:22-25
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Dear Lord, help me to see the great riches that are mine today. AMEN
