A WORD TO WISE WOMEN!

Prov 14:1 KJV

14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

The word “foolish” describes the one who violates God’s laws, ignores instruction and wisdom, and is thoughtless or stupid.

As we read this proverb two things come to mind. First we see the patent truth of it and many real life circumstances testify. Next we wish for more information about these two model women. Who are they and why did they act so differently? Ladies, you need to know that the mother fashions the character of the home. Father exerts moral authority but mother gives it a heart.

1. The Wise Woman Builds her house Materially!

Prov 31:24

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

Prov 31:27

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

2. The Wise Woman Builds her house Spiritually!

Prov 31:30

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Prov 1:7

7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

1 Tim 5:13-14

13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

The foolish woman is not aware that she is destroying her home. By her unwise energy, her self-assertion and thoughtless speech she chips away at its foundation. She is idle and her home economy is greatly flawed. She runs from neighbor to neighbor telling her husband’s faults.

Dear Lord, thank you for the many godly ladies who influence our lives and build up our homes. AMEN
