IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL
Rom 8:15-18
15 For ye have
not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit
itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children,
then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with
Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified
together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. KJV
Lynn Anderson sang a song with
these lyrics: I beg your pardon. I never promised you a rose garden. Along with
the sunshine, there’s gotta be a little rain some time.
What a difference chapter 8 is
from the conflicted agony of chapter 7. Paul transitions from facing both ways
to facing forward. He has uncovered his deficiencies and discovered Christ’s
perfection. He speaks of adoption, inheritance, and consolation.
This seems to be
the season of “manifold temptations” Peter told us about (1 Peter 1:6). If you
are enduring sufferings take comfort in the final outcome.
The Browns, who recorded a
song depicting the life of Little Jimmy Brown (bum-bum-bum-bum).
If you remember that then you are somewhat old. I recently learned that they are
responsible for an old chorus we used to sing in church. You may remember it.
WHEN WE SEE CHRIST
The Browns
Oft times the day
seems long, our trials hard to bear,
We're tempted to
complain, to murmur and despair;
But Christ will
soon appear to catch His Bride away,
All tears forever
over in God's eternal day.
It will be worth
it all when we see Jesus,
Life's trials
will seem so small when we see Christ;
One glimpse of
His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run
the race till we see Christ.
Lord, it seems that our songs are now in a minor key, but one day we
will sing a new song because your word is right, and all your works are done in
truth. Thank you for salvation and for assuring us that it will be worth it
all. AMEN
