RUMOR HAS IT!
Matt 24:6-8
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
We live in an age of communication. Garrison Keillor wrote in a recent essay “I was planning to be a comfy old grandpa who tells little kids stories about the olden days, but little kids today all have wires in their ears so storytelling is pointless.” Yes, we are all plugged in, but plugged in to what?
Be careful what you listen to because the world has become a rumor mill. Certainly, social media is neither true media nor sociable. Most of it is rude, crude, or a failed attempt at being cute. It is a highly competitive liars club. It will never replace face-to-face dialogue and should not.
The Bible is a “more sure word” (2 Peter 1:19) and soothes the fears that the flying tales produce. Read it! Rely on it!
2 Thess 2:1-2
1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind …
Dear Lord, we hear so many things that it is hard to know what is true and what is manipulative propaganda. Guide our thoughts and calm our collective fears. Affirm our faith. AMEN
