GOD IS MY HELPER!
Ps 146:5
5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
We rely upon many things to ensure our success, but the Psalmist said that the truly blessed man is the one that has God for his help. We place great emphasis upon education but, if that education is skewed in a particular direction, it may just be indoctrination. I’ve met many doctoral candidates for error.
We admire physical strength and beauty. One is capable of mesmerizing influence and the other is capable of great accomplishments, but if the goals are wrong then their efforts are wasted. Paul, for instance, claimed to be a bit ugly in Second Corinthians 10:1. Extra-biblical writings puts his height at about 4 foot 7 inches short and noted that he had an oozing eye disease that made his face somewhat crusty. Yet he had God as his helper.
1 Cor 1:26-29
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Dear Lord, throughout my life you have been my helper. I cannot glory in your presence. I am, if anything at all, a trophy of your grace. Thank you, Lord, for being my helper still. AMEN
