ENCOURAGEMENT!
Read: Psalm 46
Ps 46:1-3
46 God is our refuge and strength, a
very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though
the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the
sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and
be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
We all get down
from time to time and, usually, we snap back on our own. When that down time
becomes an extended period and when our despondency begins to cripple our
productivity and affect our relationships then it is a clear sign we need help.
Have you ever wondered
why professional football teams need cheerleaders? Those guys make millions!
Yet even the most pampered player needs encouragement from time to time.
The Christian has three opponents! We are literally “triple-teamed” by the world, the flesh,
and the Devil (Ephesians 2:2-3). We need a cheerleader to remind us that
“greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!” (First John 4:4).
Are you the player down?
Reach out to your support system. Perhaps there is a group or a person who
always cheers you. Make that call.
Have you noticed
a player who has been knocked down and is slow to get up? Carefully intervene!
Make that call. Share some time and some carefully crafted advice.
1 Thess 4:18
18 Wherefore comfort one
another with these words.
Dear Lord, let me be the light in
someone’s darkness. AMEN
