WHEN LONG THE ANSWER COMES!
1 John 5:14-15
14 And this is the
confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his
will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know
that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we
desired of him.
Last
night,
just before bedtime, I received a call from my daughter that a long awaited
prayer is in the process of being answered. It isn’t a done deal yet but it is
promising. This morning praise for that answer is still in my heart and on my
lips.
Perhaps
you are also waiting
on God to answer a prayer that has been a very long time coming. Maybe you have
almost given up hope. Worse, maybe you have learned to live without that answer.
Don’t lose hope. Our Scripture this morning speaks of “confidence” which is the
Greek word parrhesia which literally means “all outspokenness; frankness;
bluntness.” The idea is boldness to press forward.
Answers
to prayer challenge us with change. We have prayed for that change for so
long that we have learned to live without the answer. Now, we wonder how we
will respond to the changes we have asked God for. We have lived with the
pressure and the pain for so long we wonder how we will respond to the relief.
Dear
Lord, send answers and relief to those who have waited long for you. AMEN
