SANCTUARY OF THE HEART!
Luke 2:18-19
18 And all they
that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept
all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
Luke 2:33
33 And Joseph and
his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
The
heart can be a melancholy place. In it we keep our innermost secrets
both good and bad. Consider Mary’s heart processes throughout the Messiah
project. Her young body was called into service to produce a perfect sacrifice;
a mixture of God and man. From the first quickening in her womb to the visit of
the shepherds she stored up private thoughts both wonderful and horrible.
Normal
never lasted long
as first Simeon and then Anna prophesied over her young son in the Temple. The
prospect of a mysterious “sword” which would pierce her very soul was locked
away in the sanctuary of her heart.
Such
is our own heart!
It is a storehouse of thoughts, hopes, and fears. That one who is the life of
the party may be a tortured soul. The one who is always encouraging others may
very well need encouragement. No one knows because no one sees. The pain is
hidden away within the sanctuary of the heart.
Gal 6:10
10 As we have
therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Dear
Lord, let me seek out those who need encouragement. Let me be raw and sensitive
to discern it. Bring into my life encouragers for I too have a huge store in
the sanctuary of my heart. AMEN
