HOW TO RESPOND TO DEEP HURT!

HOW TO RESPOND TO DEEP HURT!

Each of us has been hurt by someone at sometime. It is also a fact that we have hurt someone else either through meanness, neglect or ignorance. When we are hurt we can run away, we can pout or we can retaliate. But how should we respond when we are hurt?

1. RESPOND WITH COMPASSION!

1 Peter 3:8
8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

Most dog owners have been “nipped” by their own pet if that pet is in pain. When someone hurts us try to understand what circumstances might have caused them to act as they did.

2. RESPOND WITH KINDNESS!

Luke 6:34-35
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

3. RESPOND WITH HUMILITY!

Prov 29:23
23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Isa 57:15
15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

It’s not always your position but your disposition that is important.

4. RESPOND WITH GENTLENESS!

Titus 3:1-2
3:1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

5. RESPOND WITH PATIENCE!

1 Thess 5:14-15
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

Luke 17:3-4
3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

Dear Lord, today someone close to me may hurt me. Help me to respond as you would respond. AMEN
