POLITICS AS WE KNOW IT!

POLITICS AS WE KNOW IT!

Acts 24:1-5
24:1 And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.
2 And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,
3 We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.
4 Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words.
5 For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

As Paul did in his day, we are suffering the skill of the politician who, by his words, can paint a rainbow on a skunk! Paul had been arrested by the Jews and rescued by Captain Lysias who kept the mob from tearing him limb from limb. Paul had rightfully claimed the rights of being a Roman by birth and was brought before Felix the Governor.

The Jews had retained a lawyer named Tertullus whose opening arguments are nauseatingly sweet and condescending toward the judge. He claims that all of Felix’s judgments were eagerly accepted at all times by all people. Why, it was an absolute wonder that a mere man could so aptly judge. With these and other flowery words Tertullus might have promoted verbal diabetes!

We could use some down home, straight walking, straight talking and right living leaders and followers. We are tired of lies. We are worn out by political correctness and desperately crave the truth which might set us truly free.

2 Peter 2:17-19
17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption.

Matt 23:3
3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

Zech 8:16-17
16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

Dear Lord, in these evil days, raise up men of truth and integrity that we might enjoy a little reviving in our land. AMEN
