MAINTAINING SANITY IN AN INSANE WORLD
Phil 4:6-8
6 Be careful for
nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace
of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be
any praise, think (intentionally and thoughtfully) on these
things.
Deut 28:28
28 The LORD shall
smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
Maybe I am the
crazy one, for it seems that all around me have lost their ability or their will
to think clearly. They are looney and they seem to like it that way. But I
suppose that is a rather judgmental observation. All are not smitten with
madness, surely, it is just that sanity seems so rare.
That which I
currently observe is predictive, as Dr. Warren Wiersbe puts it. Of
Deuteronomy 28 he comments: “This section is predictive; it describes
the judgments God promised to send on the nation if the people refused to obey
His law. The judgments are given in greater detail than are the blessings and
are just the opposite of the blessings.” (From The Bible Exposition Commentary:
Old Testament © 2001-2004 by Warren W. Wiersbe. All rights reserved.)
The Apostle Paul picks up the topic in the book of Romans.
Rom 1:21-22
21 Because that,
when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but
became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
Isa 26:3
3 Thou wilt keep
him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in
thee.
Dear God of Pure and Rational Thought, restore sanity to our leaders
and peace to our land. AMEN
