HOW TO MAKE GODLY DECISIONS!

 

          Lately it seems that many of my friends are having trouble making godly decisions. Indeed, some of them are IN trouble because of their decisions and others are headed in the wrong direction. I want to give some help for believers in making wise decisions.

 

1.    Lean heavily upon the Lord!

 

Prov 2:6-7

6 For the Lord  giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

 

2.    Get advice from godly friends!

 

2 Cor 6:14

14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

 

Bad advice comes from bad people. Make sure you and your friends are walking the same path.

 

3.    Gather all the facts!

 

Prov 18:13

13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

 

Luke 14:28

28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

 

4.    Do not ignore the warning signs!

 

Prov 10:17

17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

 

5.    Follow this decision to its logical end!

 

Ask: “What is the likely outcome of my decision?”

 

Prov 27:12

12 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.

 

6.    Commit your decision to God!

 

Ps 37:5

5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

 

Once you have done all you can do in seeking guidance, decide! Dr. Charles Stanley says: “Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him!”

 

Dear Lord, give unto your people your mind and your wisdom. Many important decisions face us. Guide us, we pray. AMEN
