GOD SPOKE THROUGH A DONKEY
Read: Numbers
22:21 - 34
Num 22:26-28
26 And the angel
of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn
either to the right hand or to the left.
27 And when the
ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger
was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.
28 And the LORD
opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto
thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
Our plans, we think, must be
God’s will because we have planned them. They coincide with our desires and promise
beneficial results. Our plans are exactly what we would plan if we were God –
but we are not.
Isa 55:9
9 For as the
heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my
thoughts than your thoughts.
Balaam was so frustrated that he didn’t
seem to think it odd that his donkey should speak! His response to the
hinderance of his plans was to strike out violently. All the while he spoke
with the donkey as forthrightly as he did with the angel.
Your response to hindered plans
shines a light on your maturity, your spirituality, and your intelligence. Are
you mature enough to not throw a tantrum? Are you spiritual enough to not
demand your own way? Are you intelligent enough to listen to clear warnings?
Prov 16:7
7 When a man's
ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Lord, please make
me wise enough to see that sometimes my plans are simply that of someone who is
immature and impatient. Give me eyes to see your roadblocks and a heart that is
willing to yield to you. AMEN
