TIME
FLIES!
Job
7:6

My
days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope.
James
4:14

Whereas
ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a
vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
The
horns and hangovers
of New Years Day is little more than a month past and we have already
forgotten. It seems to be ancient history. A few bits of Christmas glitter
linger on the fabric of life and the ground hog has already made his prediction
for an early spring. Time flies!
The
business of living
has taken the life out of it for some. As for Job his days were both monotonous
and, as he puts it, “swifter than a weaver’s shuttle.” Both fast and torturous
were his days.
The
young wish time to speed because they can hardly wait to experience what the
old now find commonplace. If they only had a different perspective the young
would relish their youth and not wish for advancing age.
As
believers in an ageless God, we are urged to buy up time and opportunity and to
store it. “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise redeeming
the time, because the days are evil. Eph 5:15-16 The word
“redeeming” means “to ransom or to rescue from loss.” We must be aware of the
value of time and we must be careful not to waste it.
Our English word opportunity comes
from the Latin and means "toward the port." It suggests a ship taking
advantage of the wind and tide to arrive safely in the harbor. The brevity of
life is a strong argument for making the best use of the opportunities God
gives us. If God saved me, He has a purpose for my life, and I should discover
that purpose and then guide my life accordingly. Warren Wiersbe
Dear
Lord, let me not waste valuable time today! Let me manage time – even leisure
time – so that I might fulfill your purpose for my life. AMEN
