REVIVAL MEANS SEVERING QUESTIONABLE RELATIONSHIPS!

Every man must discern whether his friendships and associations are for his benefit or detriment. Often the saddest thing we can do is to part company with a friend when, at a fork in the road, each of us choose different paths. Amos asks a rhetorical question.

Amos 3:3 KJV
3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

Personal choice is the difference between the non-believer, the nominal believer, and the strong believer. The non-believer has chosen to continue in his doubt in the face of compelling evidence. The nominal believer has insured himself against hell but seems unwilling to associate himself with heaven. He lives in the nether land while others choose to walk closer to the Savior. The results are predictable.

Psalms 1:1-6 KJV
1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Can we blame the carelessness of the sheep when the shepherds are always looking over their shoulder at modern opinion? Maintaining a strong personal conviction that some things are right necessarily puts one at odds with those who have chosen otherwise. Rather than firing a parting shot or mounting a campaign against them it may simply require that we walk tearfully away.

1 John 1:7 KJV
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Dear Lord, today I mourn the loss of many friends left along the wayside of my journey. Comfort me with your own faithful friendship. AMEN
