FROZEN ASSETS!

Isa 59:1-2 KJV
59:1 Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

One of the ways our nation punishes another rogue country or a suspected terrorist group is to “freeze” their assets being held here. The money has not been seized, it still belongs to them, but it is not released to them as long as they persist in unacceptable behavior.

Our text this morning indicates a similar punitive action is sometimes resorted to by our Lord. When He needs to gain our attention he freezes our assets. There are many wonderful blessings that we can not enjoy because of our unacceptable behavior.

1. IT IS NOT DUE TO HIS INABILITY!

The verse is clear that his hand is not shortened, cut off, or too short to reach us. He is quite capable of delivering boatloads of blessings. Our account is not overdrawn but frozen. Many wonderful things still belong to us.

2. IT IS NOT DUE TO HIS DEAFNESS!

His ear is not “heavy” or burdened with too many requests. God is not working behind a backlog of many needs. God has a wonderful system of delivery with myriads of angels at His disposal. No, the system is not overloaded or “heavy” with too many needs to care for.

3. INIQUITIES HAVE CAST UP A WALL!

The word iniquity suggests moral evil, perversity or mischief. When we stubbornly persist in knowingly doing wrong we throw up a barrier between us and God. He will not climb over it…again!
4. OUR SINS HAVE COVERED HIS FACE!

The word for “sins” here means an offense that requires a sacrifice. Actually the word is sometimes used to refer to the sacrifice as in the “sin offering.”

When Jesus hung on the cross the sun refused to shine for a time and God had to turn his face away because he could not look upon all the sins which had been transferred to His Son. Literally, our sins had hid His face from us.

1 Cor 2:9 KJV
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

God’s storehouse is full. If you are not able to make a withdrawal perhaps you need to check your attitudes and behavior.

Oh God, who can know the riches waiting for us if we would just repent and obey. Thank you for getting our attention and your willingness to forgive. AMEN
