O KING, BE CAREFUL

Dan 4:30-32

30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

Nebuchadnezzar was a great and successful king, and he was all too aware of it. A growing self-appreciation brought to him a divine humbling. His dream, interpreted by Daniel, predicted his downfall. While admiring his kingdom and his accomplishments, he lost his mind and was removed from office. He wandered in the fields and ate grass like the oxen for seven years.

We are now just four months from choosing a leader for America. We are in such desperate need of leadership and wisdom and righteousness that an appeal to God is urgently required. So dire is our need that we dare not ask God to follow our advice based on incomplete understanding. We absolutely must ask God to rule in the affairs of men.

Often God works secretly but, on rare occasions, He acts in ways that leave no doubt that He is completely in charge. When that happens, even the vilest of men must momentarily yield to His will. Let it be so now!

Prov 8:14-16

14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

Dear God of all wisdom, we humbly ask that you move in clarity regarding our great need of direction and renewal. AMEN
