WHAT IS LIFE?
Gen 2:7
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the
ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living
soul.
What is
life in its essence? Man became animated by the breath of God. Interestingly, Strong says
that the word “life” as used here is feminine singular but masculine plural. So,
man was created and then given the ability to pro-create or reproduce. The life
he transfers is a part of that original breath of God.
Luke 12:15
15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of
covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things
which he possesseth.
What is
life in its value? Jesus asked, “what shall a man give in exchange for his soul.” So,
life is associated with the spirit and the spirit with the breath of God. In Acts
chapter twenty, Paul valued his mission more than his life when he said, “
neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish
my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus,
to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:21
1 Thess 5:9-10
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to
obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we
wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
Life never
ends. That breath of God
first given to man is eternal. The believer will live together with Him. Jesus
said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.” John 10:10
John 17:3
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know
thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Thank you, Lord, for abundant
life. AMEN
