HAVE YOU CONSIDERED
The word “considered” is found sixteen
times in the Bible. No less than six different original Hebrew, Aramaic, and
Greek words are translated considered. One of the most familiar occurrences is Job 1:8 and almost identically Job 2:3.
Job 1:8
8 And the Lord
said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job,
that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one
that feareth God, and escheweth [spits out] evil? KJV
Job 2:3
3 And the Lord
said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job,
that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one
that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity,
although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. KJV
The first time God points out
Job, He does so with pride. “Have you thoroughly investigated and understood my
faithful servant? Does he not cause you to marvel at his fastidiousness? Do you
know what makes him tick?” Satan’s response was to slander, criticize, and
challenge. What followed was loss, pain, and sorrow.
The second time God points to Job,
He does so with anger toward Satan and an enhanced admiration for Job. “Now do
you see the ironclad stubbornness of Job’s faith? You tested him and he remains
faithful still.”
God KNOWS us. Satan
STUDIES us. One sees us clearly, loves us deeply, and limits our sufferings. The
other is constantly searching for a way to destroy us because he hates us with
a fierce hatred and a malevolent design. Why would we ever listen to him?
Ps 31:7-8
7 I will be glad
and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known
my soul in adversities;
8 And hast not
shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room. KJV
Ever watching Lord, you see us in our distress and pain ready to
rescue and relieve. You observe our responses and measure our resources ready
to resupply. Be not far from those who need you today. AMEN
