ALL SCRIPTURE IS PROFITABLE

2 Tim 3:16-17

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

KJV

Take another look at your Bible. It was written over a period of 1400 to 1800 years by more than 40 different authors. The Bible is a compilation of 66 separate books, divided into two primary divisions: the Old Testament (containing 39 books) and the New Testament (containing 27 books). Men wrote it but God spoke it. Jesus said that not one jot (pen stroke) or one tittle (smallest letter … perhaps a dot) would pass until all would be fulfilled (Matthew 5:18).

The Bible was Satan’s first battleground in Genesis three. He questioned it, took from it, and added to it. He removed a curse and added a promise that God never intended. Words have meaning. If you change the words, you change the meaning. If you change the meaning, you change the doctrine. If you change the doctrine, you change the destiny.

The Bible is our first and best textbook. It is profitable for teaching. It shows us our blame and produces shame in the sinner. It shows us how to remedy sin and find forgiveness and peace. It guides us and aids us in obedience. It equips completely. The English word throughly is never used in modern conversion but is translated from the Greek word exartizo which literally means “to finish out.” It is a carpenter or builder’s term, and we understand it to mean to trim out a house with the smallest detail.

When I was just a kid in Sunday school, we used to sing a little song that goes this way.

Every promise in the Book is mine

Every chapter, every verse, every line.

All the blessings of His love divine

Every promise in the Book is mine.

Thank you for my Bible, Lord. AMEN
