THE IMPORTANCE OF FRAMILY!
Ps 68:5-6a
5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his
holy habitation.
6a God setteth the solitary in
families:
God created man and woman to form families. God Himself is relational and
personal. In the cool of the evening, in the perfect garden He had created, God
walked and talked with Adam and Eve. God derived pleasure from this interaction,
and it was the first indication of trouble in Paradise. Man hid himself.
Someone once said that “All families are dysfunctional – some more than others.” In
spite of this acknowledged truth, family is one of God’s greatest gifts.
The word “solitary” is the Hebrew word yachiyd [yaw-keed] and it is a sad word. It means
“lonely; an irreplaceable one;” and in the King James it is once translated
as “darling” and in another place “desolate.” Solitary is not a pleasant
situation.
Strangely, the word “families”
originally meant “a house.” But consider the
implications of your favorite chair, the familiar surroundings, and even the
pictures hanging on the wall. The moment the key enters the lock you know that
you are home. Everyone longs for that family setting.
I sometimes ask folks if they have a “church home.” Do they have a congregation to which
they actually, even legally, belong? It is more than just a casual or even
consistent visiting of a place of worship. It is a church home.
Do you feel comfortable in the church kitchen? Have you voluntarily placed your
membership in that church? It is an important question.
Dear Lord, bless our families and every individual in them. Help us to
see the importance of our Church family today. AMEN
