A LULLIBY IN THE MORNING
Ps 139:1-6
139 O Lord, You
have searched me and known me.
2 You know my
sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my
thought afar off.
3 You comprehend
my path and my lying down,
And are
acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is
not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O
Lord, You know it altogether.
5 You have hedged
me behind and before,
And laid Your
hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge
is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I
cannot attain it.
NKJV
For quite some time
now, I have had a song in my head and heart that I would occasionally sing
as a spontaneous benediction. I couldn’t remember where I had first heard it
but couldn’t get it out of my mind. Well, I decided to research it and now it fits
the path I have trod.
Rev. Wendell
Phillips Loveless USA 1892-1987, Born in Wheaton, IL, he first engaged in business in
Chicago. In 1914 he became a member of an entertainment group that toured the
U.S. on the Chautauqua circuit. Spending six years with the group he learned
voice, piano, dramatics, and MC duties, later managing the group. He wrote many
choruses including one called “Every day with Jesus
is sweeter than the day before.” He also wrote the benediction song that has
been stuck in my head since Chautauqua days.
GOOD NIGHT (guitar chords)
D A "Good night our God is watching o'er you
A D Good night His mercies go before you
D7 G Good night and
we'll be praying for you
D A D So good night, may God
bless you."
So, at the end of a
gathering, if I should suddenly burst into song, this is the background.
Ps 42:8
8 Yet the LORD
will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the
night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
Lord, let your mercy go before us and give us songs in the night. AMEN
