THE UNSEARCHABLE RICHES OF CHRIST!
Eph 3:8
8 Unto me, who am less than the
least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the
Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
Five times
in the Authorized Version we find the word “unsearchable.” In the Old Testament
it is the Hebrew word “cheqer” which means unable to be examined;
unlisted.” The Greek is the word “anexichniastos” which means
“not tracked out; untraceable; a cold
trail.”
Oh, we should not limit ourselves to gold and silver when we think of the treasure of Christ! Romans
11:33 talks about wisdom, knowledge, and judgments! Wisdom is the right use of
information. Knowledge is a golden key that opens mysteries. Judgments are the
actions and decisions which spring from wisdom and knowledge. Solomon said that
these things were very valuable.
Prov 16:16
16 How much better is it to get
wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than
silver!
Adam Clarke summarizes this treasure as: “the innumerable providences which he had combined, to
prepare, mature, and bring to full effect and view his gracious designs in the
salvation of a ruined world, by the incarnation, passion, death, and
resurrection of his Son.” When we seek to know all there is to know about God
the trail goes cold. The tracks disappear. We exhaust ourselves with the sum of
them.
Dear Lord, I chase after you but you
run too fast. I track you but your trail goes cold. Only when I sit still do
you find me and bring me the unsearchable riches. Thank you! AMEN
